Crystals became close to my heart quite unexpectedly. Just before my 30th birthday, a course on this topic with the wonderful Katie-Jane Wright appeared on the horizon - my heart sang as I read about it and I knew I had to make it a birthday present for myself. Since the course completed in June, crystals and stones have become an integral part of my life and I feel it will stay that way! Not only beautiful, but also powerful. 💜
Crystals and gemstones are more than just jewellery. For thousands of years, the people of China, India, Indians, Australian Aborigines, as well as Romans, Greeks and Egyptians have used them in their healing practices. Interestingly, despite being miles apart, they ascribed similar characteristics to the same crystals. In Europe, crystal healing practices were initiated by the Christian nun and mystic Hildegard von Bingen, because in the Middle Ages the Church did not consider such practices to be heresy. Today, however, we associate them with esotericism and the world of magic.
"Bringing a quartz crystal of any size or shape close to the body always immediately causes a response, activating the nearest subtle energy points or chakras. Crystalline energy can change the secretions of related endocrine glands, as well as altering blood pressure and mental, physical and emotional responses. So the resonant properties of crystals can bring the human body into equilibrium.
Biological research now proves that not every informational ‘message’ received through crystals is directed to our brain. Instead, minute microtubules in our cells communicate instantly by the tiniest pulses of light, in addition to and separate from bio-electrical nerve circuits and chemical impulses. To a certain extent each part of our body is conscious. Quantum science even says that we have an ability to connect with and are part of a "global brain" extending into the electromagnetic field of our planet."

Crystals can be helpful in meditation, in harmonizing the chakras, or in direct healing of physical symptoms, for example pain, but it should be noted that the prospect of e.g. putting amethyst on the forehead for a headache is extremely limited! Crystals can do much, much more, and it's a bit of an insult if you only use them that way. (And for a good reason I say this as if each of them had their own consciousness.)
Each crystal that comes to you has a task in your life (or vice versa, but more on that in a moment!). After completing this task, usually your task is to pass it on, maybe even lose it. Perhaps its task is to help you regain health, get rid of fear or sadness, solve a problem, but it can also serve as a kind of database, diary or amulet, which you can, for example, charge with your energy and gift to your child. The exchange of energy with the crystal always works both ways, so it is good practice to cleanse the crystals frequently (a whole post on this coming).
The crystal can also come to you to cleanse it and restore it to the so-called zero point (more in an upcoming post), and then pass it on to someone who needs it. It doesn't necessarily have to be a gift, you can also sell it. Certainly, one way or another, it will find the right person (and vice versa!) or the right place.
I do not recommend relying on descriptions of crystals from books or the Internet. Their properties are really versatile and it is simply impossible to include them all in a short note! It is much easier to simply talk to the crystal (!) and ask it what its task is in your specific case. I know what this sounds like, especially if your life is ruled by logic, but all you need is an open mind and an open heart. I will describe the ways of working with crystals, in particular communicating with them in the next post on this topic.
If we need some clue, we can classify the crystals by their colors. Each of the main 7 chakras in our body has quite specific colours assigned to it, for example for the base chakra they are red and black. Red and black crystals work very well with this chakra very often, but it is not a strict rule. Perhaps green or transparent will work better for you. It's really worth trusting your intuition here!
Moreover, you don't need to own a crystal to enjoy its benefits! A picture of it is enough. Even just imagining it, if you can visualize its vibration, energy. Another interesting observation, it is good to combine crystals with metals because they strengthen their effect. Copper and iron (e.g. meteorites) are best for this.
Personally, I also use stones to filter drinking water. You are probably familiar with carbon filters, but shungite is even better here, as it cleans the water of heavy metals, fluoride, chlorine, pesticides and other toxins, while enriching the water with potassium, magnesium and calcium salts. The same stone is used to neutralize radioactivity as well as electromagnetic waves by reversing their direction (much like carbon).
An interesting topic when it comes to working with crystals are stories about the ancient land of Atlantis. Crystals were used there on a daily basis for various purposes. Each house and each temple was surrounded by a circle of crystals (e.g. buried in the ground). They were used for healing, too, but also as energy sources and information carriers, almost resembling computers. More about this in one of the next entries on crystal skulls.
