One of the likely reasons why many people struggle with meditation is a lack of sense of being grounded. Grounding in this sense is a feeling of stability, presence in the body and conscious connection with the Earth. It improves our concentration, the ability to cope with stress, clears the mind, has many health-promoting properties by providing the body with negative ions from the Earth. I think these are pretty solid reasons to develop this simple habit! 😊
The easiest and fastest way to ground yourself is to focus for a few minutes on the sensation of gravity, the weight of our body or its surfaces that touch the ground. We can also try to imagine moving the weight of the body below the surface of the earth. If you like to visualize, you can develop your own grounding technique - for example, by planting a network of roots in the ground like a tree, or lowering a golden anchor to the very centre of our Planet. Experiment with different techniques in different situations, and you're sure to find one (or more) that clearly improves your sense of grounding.
If you don't fully understand what I'm talking about, simply stand or walk barefoot on bare ground or grassIt's an absolutely no-compromise way to ground yourself and I highly recommend it to anyone (you can also use your hands instead of your feet) - at least initially it may be a more distinct experience than visualization alone. However, practice makes perfect and achieving this state is perfectly possible in any situation, regardless of whether you have access to a piece of land or not.
Another way to ground yourself is through the use of crystals and gemstones. Generally good for this purpose are the black ones, such as shungite, obsidian, black tourmaline, but also brown and red ones (corresponding to the lower chakras). I recommend that you trust your intuition in choosing and focus your request for grounding on the stone and/or imagine a band of its energy flowing into the body and stabilizing it.
Beyond these simple techniques, there are many activities that support our sense of grounding. They include e.g. any contact with nature - forest bathing, sunbathing, bonfires, as well as conscious physical activities, especially those "close to ground", such as yin yogaI recommend making a list of those situations that help you feel stable in mind and body - thanks to this, you will increase the likelihood of engaging in them more often, which can greatly help you regulate your health or take advantage of the benefits of previously unavailable meditation.
