It is reported that most people, even in climates warmer than ours, are deficient in vitamin D. Due to the common way of life, usually in confinement, it's something worth paying special attention to in case of any signs of illness - be it allergies or depression. Personally, not long after I moved to cloudy UK, I was critically deficient in this vitamin and no doctor thought of this when my skin problems started - I asked for a test myself. It wasn't the only cause of my problems, but it certainly played a significant role. At that time, I avoided the sun like the plague and used SPF 50 on my face and body… If you too have fallen victim to this catastrophic trend, I advise against it, but of course you will do as you wish. 😘
I rarely use supplements because, in my opinion, they are not able to replace vitamins and minerals in their original form (e.g. in food), and each body's needs are quite relative (don't quote me here, because of course I'm not a doctor or scientist). For vitamin D I make an exception - I try to take at least ~2000 units per day of D3 along with K2, which is helpful for its absorption, from Laborell, in the form of oil drops. From my sources I know that this is one of the better brands on the Polish market in terms of the actual amount of vitamins in the supplement. However, I do recommend doing a test for the level of vitamin D in the body and based on this, choosing a supplement that will be appropriate for you, also taking into account your age, lifestyle, season and where you live. It's important that it's oil-based and doesn't contain unnecessary chemicals. Of course, supplementation will not replace spending time outdoors on sunny days but it can be helpful when you're not able to do so.
Another thing is something I actually learned recently at an online event (Science of Healing Summit) – the morning sun is extremely important for our health! According to a specialist in quantum biology Carrie Bennett, if you spend at least 10 minutes outside in the morning every day, it will have an almost immediate positive effect on your mental and physical health - first of all, it will help regulate the circadian cycle, which is crucial for health. The sun's rays have a very special composition at this time, with lots of infrared light, which is considered very healing. It has an effect even in cloudy weather, although to a slightly lesser extent. If you want to go a step further, try to get up before sunrise and go outside to watch this beautiful event, preferably in nature, even better on the grass without socks! 😊
The last thing is the light at night. 💡 Avoiding blue light after sunset, similarly to getting outside in the morning, helps your body know when to go to sleep and when it's time to be active. In the evening I use candles, a fireplace or any other subtle warm-coloured light source - my eyes hate white light after dark! – and each of my devices with a screen has an automatic filter turned on. Most devices have this option in the settings, and if you need something more advanced, I recommend the free f.lux app. On top of that, many eyewear stores also offer special computer glasses with a blue light filter.
Have a sunny day wherever you are! 🌞
