The simplest things are often the most powerful. Evidence of this can be a simple, conscious break. Observe nature, and you'll see that every bird, butterfly, and cat seems to be doing nothing at all from time to time. He just stands still or sits down, maybe looks around.
For a human too, this kind of pause can become as natural as breathing. Actually, we do it all the time, but the point is to do it intentionally - then it brings great results! Notice that pauses occur in your life at very appropriate times, even though sometimes your mind tries to tell you otherwise. Traffic jams, queues, late buses – why not treat them as gifts from the Universe in the form of natural breaks? Maybe these are the times to ask yourself how you feel, take a few deep breaths or notice a beautiful tree growing right next to you?
Contrary to appearances, stopping will not make you have less time – on the contrary. Conscious pauses quantumously extend time - helping us to be more effective and efficient in the activities they precede!
"Happy people do not count the time"
Perhaps thanks to the breaks – also in thinking. 😉 A mind full of tasks to do is a taxed mind. The feeling that every task has to be done in a certain order, sometimes even several of them at the same time, creates an even greater burden. Meanwhile, a simple pause can help the mind correct some unfavourable assumptions, saving us the work and rush that usually leads to mistakes, or at least stresses us out. Such a break adds space, broadens the perspective - it allows you to relax your thinking, which also helps to relax your body.
Next time when, for some reason, you can't continue what you have started, look at it from a different angle. Maybe it's a gift? Maybe, over time, a conscious pause will become a pleasant habit and save you from many potentially unpleasant situations – because before you react with anger to someone else's anger, you will stop for a moment, look around, feel your body and find within yourself a completely different answer. Such a simple pause can change the world! 🤍
I recommend reading more about the art of conscious pause in the book "The Art of Contemplation" by Richard Rudd, which is a great complement to Gene Keys. However, if English is not your strong point (I would be very surprised), don't worry - the topic will definitely appear on the blog again!
