On the blog, I usually focus on simple ways to harmonize health for free, but I will make an exception for the topic of Dr. Edward Bach and his flower essences. Of course, we can make them ourselves provided the plants are available in our country - the original extracts are produced in the UK - and the flowers should grow wild and preferably near a natural spring, which is the base for the extracts. The rules are quite specific, but not impossible to follow if you really wish to do so. 😉
According to Bach, as well as many people who are interested in holistic or ancient medicine (like TCM or Ayurveda), diseases always have a mental-spiritual causes. It comes down to the energies we feed into our bodies through our mind, emotions, and our level of self-awareness. Bach extracted 38 essences from flowers, each of which corresponds to a specific attitude and type of emotion. Fearfulness, irritation for no reason, anger or resignation - every person who has a health problem has certain tendencies that manifest themselves especially in stressful situations, weakness and fatigue. Working as a bacteriologist and then a homeopath, Edward Bach discovered that all ailments are the result of these emotional imbalances and set out to find the right antidote for each type - straight from Nature. His assumption was that everyone in their home could have a full set of essences to serve the whole family in times of difficulty.
"Take no notice of the disease; think only of the outlook on life of the one in distress"
Edward Bach
The composition of one or several essences is designed to restore us to a state of harmony. These extracts do not contain any active substances (they are only preserved with brandy), they are based on the specific energy/vibration of the plant from which they are prepared. A huge plus is that thanks to this, they do not react with medication and herbs, and their worst "side effect" is that absolutely nothing happens. They can be given to children, animals, even plants - according to the literature, they have a much stronger effect than placebo. It's something like homeopathy, but a step further - instead of stimulating the body to fight the disease through a trace amount of "poison", the essences support our state of connection with Nature, in which a given tendency is transformed into a positive aspect of personality, which in turn restores us to full health. In my experience, the most brilliant methods work this way! 💙
Picking the right essences can be the hardest part as it requires you to be completely honest about your emotional states. The second key element is that you just have to take them daily for about 3 weeks to be able to tell the difference or lack thereof – especially with issues that are chronic or have lasted for a long time. Usually after the first composition things start to clear up, perhaps new emotions appear and you can choose more extracts or replace them to improve the mixture. How long such a treatment lasts is a completely individual matter, but assuming the right choice of extracts, the difference should be obvious after 2-3 weeks, and in some cases it will be felt right away.
Judging even by the reviews of books about this therapy, many people consider this method to be effective, because even if it doesn't replace standard medicine in every case, it is able to greatly lift the spirit of the person being treated and thus achieve better results. I think that it could be a key element in the therapy of, for example, cancer or other life-threatening diseases, where a person after diagnosis often loses hope or lives in constant fear of death.
There is also a ready-made mixture "Rescue Remedy", which can be administered in cases of shock, e.g. after an accident or after the death of a loved one, as well as before important public appearances, exams, etc.
I've just started testing Bach's remedies on myself and my loved ones - I will definitely let you know about the results! 🤞 Ready-to-use composition suppliers can be found, for example, at here, and affordable full set of extracts is available on Amazon.
